Founded in 1879, the Junior King's School spent its first half-century in Canterbury. The School moved out into the countryside to its present spacious premises in 1929. The 16th century Manor House, set in 80 acres on the banks of the River Stour, along with a superb Tithe Barn and Oast, offered a wonderfully spacious and attractive new home for the school. Over the years, the school has been enhanced to include modern teaching and recreational facilities - a swimming pool, recreation rooms, and most recently, a fine new Dining Hall and a superb Sports Hall. This Summer Centre offers excellent pastoral care - a matron in addition to normal Churchill House staff is available at all times.

The location
Located in the small village of Sturry on the Great Stour river two miles north-east of Canterbury in Kent. Sturry railway station is on the line between Canterbury West and Ramsgate, with a regular connection to London. The village is an ideal location for younger children having huge space for all outdoor games and activities without the busy traffic of a big town.
Canterbury is a great place to visit for children providing wonderful shopping opportunities as well as sites like Canterbury Cathedral or the Canterbury Tales. Canterbury is close to the seaside only 70 minutes away from London by fast train and its major airports. summer school
