Добро пожаловать в школу IELS Gozo (Ghajnsielem)
Fact file
Gozo (Maltese: Għawdex) is a small island of the Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is part of the Southern European country of Malta; after the island of Malta itself, it is the second-largest island in the archipelago. Compared to its southeastern neighbour, Gozo is more rural and known for its scenic hills, which are featured on its coat of arms.A popular nickname of Gozo is the Isle of Calypso, derived from the location of Ogygia in Greek mythological poem Homer's Odyssey.
IELS Gozo is ideally located in Ghajnsielem within walking distance of Mgarr Harbour where ferries run regularly taking just 20 minutes to cross to and from the main island of Malta. Ghajnsielem is an attractive village with a strong sense of community and a thriving social life.
Our school is located on the main road on two floors in a modern building, the first floor is dedicated to the teaching centre, which is fully air-conditioned and comprises 10 bright classrooms, a video room, an administration office and a reception area. On the second floor, one can find the student residence.
The archipelago boasts over 300 days of sunshine in a year. Whereas for most parts of Europe four seasons divide the year, Malta hardly gets a spring or an autumn thus making it also the ideal destination to visit during the winter months. The waters around the islands are widely regarded to be amongst the clearest in the Mediterranean. Snorkeling and scuba diving are highly recommended.
